This is a last-minute announcement of the upcoming positive psychology conference held Claremont Graduate University on January 24, 2009, 8:45-18:45 (GMT-8 Pacific Time).

Sign up now for web participation or to be wait-listed for in-person attendance.

The purpose of this symposium is a gathering of major researchers in the field of positive psychology, to discuss how the science of positive psychology can be applied for the improvement of society. For those of you who are interested in positive psychology and would like to hear what this conference can teach you, then I invite everyone to attend via web. In-person attendance is sold out, and I personally think the “webinar” registration is better than to be wait-listed. However, you will have to books your ticket(s) immediately as sales will close very soon. If you are unable to be in California, like me and Hans, then you can also sign up for web participation, which is only $25 plus a $0.99 registration fee.

The following is a list of speakers presenting at this symposium:

  • Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
  • Martin Seligman (via video)
  • Edward Diener
  • David Cooperrider
  • Christopher Peterson
  • Barbara Fredrickson
  • Shelley Taylor
  • Jane Dutton
  • Kim Cameron
  • Jeanne Nakamura
  • Nansook Park
  • Hans Henrik Knoop
  • Stewart Donaldson

For more information or to register, go to http://cgu.edu/pages/5808.asp.

While you are at the website and/or after you have registered, check out the School of Behavioral and Organizational Sciences at Claremont Graduate University (CGU). This is the only institution in the United States that has a doctoral degree that is positive psychology related (Ph.D. in Positive Developmental Psychology and in Positive Organizational Psychology). Mihalyi Csikszentmihalyi, one of the leaders of positive psychology, is a faculty member in the positive psychology department and has researched extensively on positive organizational behavior.

Also, if you are further intereted in CGU and what they have to offer, you can also view their video library for free at http://www.cgu.edu/pages/4435.asp

  1. Hans Rippel says:

I’m so glade they put the time and effort into simulcasting it over the web for everyone who cannot attend in person. Technology can be such a blessing.
The next step is for more and more conferences to pick up on this and then after a certain time post the videos to their website or YouTube for public viewing, just like http://www.Ted.com does.

  2. India says:

For those who could not make the conference or who want to see the conference again, go to http://www.cgu.edu/positivepsych to check out the first 45 miuntes of the video and to hear news about when the full (7.5 hours) will be available on-line!
